Certification Policies

For Citrix Engineer (CCEE) and Architect (CCIA) Series

In addition to the standard polices for Citrix Certification, the following apply to the Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer (CCEE) and Citrix Certified Integration Architect (CCIA) for Virtualization certifications.

Overview

Citrix Education has adapted a continuing Education model with the release of the latest CCEE and CCIA certifications. Through this model, certification is achieved when an individual passes the most current certification track. Certification is maintained by completing an update path within three years of the initial certification date.  As a result, CCEE and CCIA certifications will no longer be associated with a specific product version, or be expired or retired. Instead, individual certification status will be determined by a candidate's action to complete an update path every three years.

Achieving Certification

  • First-time candidates should pursue the latest track for CCEE or CCIA certification, as described on the Citrix Web site.
  • While in progress, a new CCEE or CCIA track may be released. In this instance, candidates can choose to complete the track they started within six months of the new track's release, or they can choose to complete the new track's requirements.
  • CCEE and CCIA certifications will be valid for a period of three years. The three-year certification period begins when an individual meets the final requirement, and CCEE/CCIA certification is awarded.

Maintaining Certification
To ensure that Citrix Engineers and Architects continue to possess the most current skills and knowledge in their field, Citrix employs a continuing education model for maintaining CCEE and CCIA certification status. The guidelines are as follows:

  • To maintain certification status
    • A current CCEE will be required to pass the latest CCEE update path (one Engineering-level exam) within three years of their last certification date.
    • A current CCIA will be required to pass the latest CCIA update path (one Engineering-level exam and one Architecting-level exam) within three years of their last certification date.

At anytime during the three-year certification period, a CCEE and CCIA can opt to update their certification by passing the latest update path for their respective track. By passing the update path requirements, the candidate's three-year period certification period will automatically reset.

Renewing Certification
If an individual fails to complete the update path for their certification within a three-year period, their certification status will expire. In order to regain active certification status, the individual will be required to complete the full certification path of the newest track.

Update Paths and Deadlines
Individuals who hold unexpired Engineer or Architect-level certifications may be able to update to the latest version of their certification by meeting an abbreviated set of requirements, or update path, when available.

To utilize an update path, the certificant must confirm that their certification is not expired and the update path deadline has not yet passed. Update deadlines are determined and announced at the time of certification expiration announcement.

Certification Update and Release Cycle

  • CCEE and CCIA requirements will be updated, at minimum, every three years, but alternate requirements within the track may be added frequently.
New CCEE and CCIA tracks will be released no more than once per year, and no less than once every three years. No more than two CCEE/CCIA tracks will be available simultaneously, with a maximum overlap period of six months.
